Thank you so so so much for nominating your friends, family members, neighbors, teachers, and people you love. It was both an overwhelming response by all of you and a truly heartbreaking exercise to learn about so many wonderful families who have had such a tough time. Financial struggles (times ten), disease, loss, heartbreak, fear, and a whole lot of sadness has fallen upon so many good people. However, all of you spoke of how strong your friends are and how you admired and adored these families. The friendship and love you showed in your letters truly blew me away. You have defined what community is, you are good and loyal and kind friends. I’m totally inspired.
As I read your submissions I thought about how simple it would be for me to go over to their homes and sit with them and photograph the love that they apparently have in spades. You also told me how happy this would make them.
Then why and how could each submission not win?
So, I have decided that everyone who was nominated has won.
You took the time to write and tell me that I have something that will make someone’s day. Who am I not to give it away? *Why* would I not give it away? The solution was obvious and I truly look forward to a beautiful year of photographing so many great families.
I am so grateful for your submissions and so honored that you think this would be something someone else would like.
I am so humbled.
I promise I’ll do the very best job I can for them.
More love and gratitude than you can imagine,
In 2008 a photography Love Storm swept the nation. It was called Giving is Awesome and it made, from what I can tell, many families extremely happy.
Though it started out as a formal movement, it has evolved to photographers taking their own initiative to give. awww.
Here’s how you can get involved:
me an email telling me about a family that you feel could really use a
free family portrait for the holidays this year. Maybe they’ve been hit
by the economic shit storm, maybe they’ve had a shit storm of their
own. Whatever the case: they can’t afford it, they would love it, it
just might brighten up their day a little.
Here’s what YOU get for nominating them:
A free portrait session with T.Spoon Photography.
Here’s what THEY get: A portrait session and $500 worth of prints! So fun, right?
I love this crap.
So, get writing and let me know. I’ll make the choice my December 24th and will send you an email. You can decide how to tell the lucky winners!
My personal email is: email@example.com
**pleeeease spread the word about this! The family who needs this most just may be a few degrees of separation from you!****
Worrrrrd. I’ve been besties with Kristen since we were three years old and if you follow my blog (and I can’t imagine why you wouldn’t follow my blog. It’s not like the blogosphere is saturated) you’ll know that I make an annual pilgrimage to Wisconsin to see m’girl and spend time with her (amazing, hilarious, funny, happy, silly, playful, talented, smart, gorgeous) family.
It’s fun to see a family grow so here are links to the past three years:
This year we had some new additions. Kristen’s big brother and two of his sons joined us for a fun afternoon. And Kristen and Mark have a new niece who we visited.
I hope you enjoy watching this super sweet family grow over the years as much as I do. I have the giggles just thinking about them. Sighhh… Kris, I miss you. 🙁
Thank you. Enjoy. LOVE!!!!!
Hooty hoo, Collyns is here and she’s wrapped in some serious love! When I was there for a visit in OshKosh, Wisconsin, Collyns was the center of a love fest that included her *entire* family…grandparents, cousins, aunts and uncles, and so on. Lucky little bug she is! Maureen, Brad, and Collyns have everything they need for a life full of love, happiness, family, laughter, great memories, and great friends. I have no doubt they’ll achieve this and then some. It was such a treat to be able to spend time with such a sweet bunch. Such proud parents, such happiness, such love. Awesome sauce.
Thank you. Enjoy. Love.
Talk about loving your gig. This shoot was on an unseasonably warm November day at a gorgeous home in Hyannis with *this* family. The genetics on this crew is pretty outrageously awesome, and despite my envy I loved these peeps! Super, super nice boys and stab-yourself nice parents (and grandparents). Ya, pictures say 1,000 words I hear. Right about now I’m super psyched about that.
Enjoy. Love. Thank you.
Ding ding, there’s a new person on the planet! And she’s cuuuuuute. And she’s way lucky and way loved and way small! Her name is Kayla, you don’t know her yet but when you meet her you’ll fall in love. obv. Her parents are some of my favorite full grown humans ever. They’re both incredibly kind and gentle and loving, sincere and hard working, generous and funny, gorgeous and honest. And they found one another and made a person. psssshhhh, life rocks.
Enjoy. Love. Thank you.
Cute Factory goes multi cultural. Bring it. Love brown people, love small people, really love brown small people. Precocious as they were, I chased these three cuties around their backyard until they were done exhausting me and their parents. Jelly beans are the universal bribe tactic and I was grateful for every sugary mouthful.
Thank you. Enjoy. Love.
Hey cancer? Pick on someone your own size. serrrrrrriously. Elena is going to live a long and healthy and happy life, but her parents do not appreciate you swinging by in her second year in life. RUDE!
Anyway, I swung by their home on a Saturday morning to photograph an absolutely awesome, giggly, sweet, happy, grateful home. It was my pleasure, it was true happiness. Me love.
Thank you. Enjoy. LOVE!
CUUUUUUTE!!!!!! C’mon, how cute is Kenny? I mean, what? Ethiopia knows how to make them some good lookin’ babies! Leanne and Mike had me over to their gorgeous and ultra cool pad for their one year anniversary with Smalls Kenny. I was super thrilled because the three of ’em are gorgeous and cool and fun. The day was perfect, everything was good…well, until we had to leave the park. That never goes well. 🙂
Enjoy! Thank you! Love!
Cuuuuuties. All of ’em. Loved this family, kinda wanted to stay for a beer (always a good sign). Not much more to say other than that. We hung out at home and then headed to where Lily will probably go to school since she’s super into Hilary Clinton’s education: Wellesley College. Lily For President!
Enjoy. Thank you. Love.
