So, if you follow this blog you may know my bestie, Kristen. She lives in Osh Kosh, Wisconsin, she’s gorgeous, her kids are magic. You know the deal. If you haven’t seen a single shoot of them, you should check out the past four Day In The Life shoots I’ve done with this GORGEOUS family. Start HERE and then you can link into the other four years if you’d like.
Kristen and Mark buy an album of their shoot every year. 🙂 Karen over at Happy Fish Album Designs designs the albums, and then Finao prints them. They are truly gorgeous designs and I felt like showing one off to you guys. I think you’ll dig it.
Anyway… here you go. Enjoy. Thank you. Love.
So….. Kendra has been one of my best friends for 25 years. Hard to believe it’s been that long sometimes. We have shared so many firsts together and have a lifetime of memories to talk and reminisce about. As little girls we used to perform elaborate dances, have epic photo shoots, and ridiculous scavenger hunts. As we got older we shared many tears, lots of secrets, way too much alcohol, and averted much danger while we got into much trouble. We both, oddly, went to college in Alabama (me at Uof A and she went to Auburn). We saw each other through the years and I loved her boyfriend turned husband, Wade, from the moment I met him. Wade, by the way, is just about the best dad and husband there ever was. Love that guy from the bottom of my heart.
I flew to Atlanta to shoot a wedding a few weeks ago and surprised Kendra…more like I scared the shit out of her. I spent the day photographing her and her beautiful, kind, funny, smart, cool kids. Kendra is a wonderful mom and it was an honor and a trip to see her as the cool, fun mom I knew she’d be. She’s in love with her life and she glows. That sentence can be said for her through her life. Kendra is a positive, kind, fun, funny, smart, truly gorgeous woman. I’m so very proud to be her lifelong friend. I am so very happy to be able to give these photographs to her.
My love, you know the rest. You have permanent residence in my heart. Always have, always will.
Enjoy. Thank you. Love
Oh, look at me. My name is Shannon and I’m all skinny and shit. No big deal.
My friend, Shannon, who I’ve been friends with for 25-ish years, recently lost 100 pounds. Like ya do. So, this skinny little bitch came all the way down from Maine and got all naked in my bedroom. What a floozy. 😉
Shannon, you are so beautiful. I don’t mean the inside kind. I mean, you are beautiful on the inside, but that’s not what I’m talking about here. You’re gorgeous. Sure, you’re straight-up petite now (annoying), but what’s most beautiful about you, my darling, is your eyes and your face. You have a sweet, calm, smart, confident air about you. You’ve had this since the day you were born, I suspect, and your body can change in all sorts of ways, no doubt all of ours will, but the beauty in your eyes, my friend, has always been and will always be there.
I’ve been friends with Martina since I was a little girl. She is the best friend of my best friend (how annoying is that sentence. shut up.). She is so awesome that it kindof bugs me that I write with such hyperbole about everyone else so this rave review may be lost. Martina is the best. It’s just that simple. I mean..first of all… look at her. Hello? Really? Is that your face? Her family? Don’t bother. Awesome. Smart? Went to grad school in France. Worldly? Read that sentence about France again. She married Stephen who is confident and cool and calm and handsome and smart and successful. They made Small Will and Small Sam. They’re twins. They’ve been around for one year. They love everything. Mostly taking tubs, crawling, and eating and drinking from their bottle. They also enjoy squealing in delight, trying to walk, and sitting on a chair together. They are the most well behaved, giggly, good kids I’ve probably ever met. Which…let’s face it.. is saying a lot. They live in Brooklyn Heights and I was very very very lucky to be able to spend some time with them at their flat. Then Martina and I killed a bottle of champagne. Then I went outside and it was 1:30 and it was sunny and I was drunk. Wish it was the first time I’ve ever written that sentence.
Enjoy. Thank you. Love.
I am so lucky. We know this. To be able to photograph this family adds me in the ‘so so so lucky’ category. Brad is the brother of my best friend’s husband. He and his (gorgeous, funny, kind, smart, cool) wife, Maureen, live in the sweet lil hamlet of Osh Kosh, Wisconsin. This is the second year I’ve been out to photograph them and it’s sooo fun! And can we stop it right now with the cute level of Collyns. It’s not right. And we don’t need to talk about Maureen, right? My best friend calls her beauty ‘distracting’. I can’t agree more. Anyway, enough of that. Here are the pictures. Enjoy. Thank you. Love.
Love me some Armstrong family, I do. Krissy and Nick and Sophie welcomed their newest little one, Mary Kate, a few days before Christmas this year and good lohhhd is she sweet. I wonder if I’ll ever get used to how damn small we are when we first arrive. I’ve been able to photograph this family over the years and it’s been so awesome to get to know them. They are kind and strong and positive and deeply in love. It’s an absolute honor to even spend a moment with them, never mind photograph them. Every time I see an email from Krissy I’m excited. It’s just that simple. Here’s what I saw this time. 🙂 Enjoy. Thank you. Love
Yay! One of Hitched Studios’ favorite couples of all time up and procreated. How rad. Jill is an incredible singer/songwriter, a beautiful wife, and SUCH a natural ace at being a mom. Ramez is a doctor, a great husband, and a total natural at being a really great and loving, gentle dad. Seeing these two with their son was so beautiful, I think I smiled all day. Anyway…here’s what I saw. Enjoy, thank you, love.
Rachelle is my favorite human. I can’t help it. She’s so smart and successful and funny and beautiful and fun and fancy. Now that I think of it I actually hate that bitch. Why does she get all the luck? 😉 Anyway, ya. I do really love her…I actually burst into tears when I saw her for this shoot. It had been a few years and just one look at her sortof melts my heart. She met Jonathan however many years ago (8 or 9, I guess) and I sat in the back of the synagogue the day they married each other in spite of not *actually* being invited. 🙂 She and Jonathan, who’s way high energy and kind and great and fun himself, had Jacob and Charlie. Not surprising, they too are very sweet and smart and cute. I guess it happens that way. Ya, anyway, I’m somehow trusted with documenting this beautiful family. It’s an honor. Always has been, always will be.
Thank you. Enjoy. Love.
Ya know, some families get to look like stone carvings and speak a handful of languages. The rest of us get to be Irish, sunburn easily, and have a loose but determined grip on adding profanity to the one language we do know. I’ll be alright, don’t worry a second about me. 🙂
So, Sarah and Filipe and their ridiculously cute kids were visiting from London and they asked me to come over and photograph them. I think I took one look at Filipe and said, ‘shut up. that’s what you look like?” Anyway, ya… it was snowy and gorgeous. This family is smart and beautiful. It was another tough day at the office, what can I say. Enjoy. Thank you. Love.
