Cuteness. Alert. Finley is SO cute and so good and so sweet. None of which comes to me as a surprise because her mama, Andrea, is the same way. I went and hung out with Andrea and Finley one Sunday morning and then her best friend, Flynn, came over with his lacrosse stick, his dog, and his dad. 🙂 I chased them all over the yard and in the house, and slipped out just before I became old news. 🙂 Thank you, Andrea and Finley! I hope to see you guys again! LOVE!
Just a warning: This is a real family and these are real children. I’m saying that now because I actually still don’t believe it. Picture being a family photographer (it’s awesome) and then picture walking into a shoot where all three kids are STOKED to be there, all they do is hysterically giggle, and *enthusiastically* do every single thing I ask them to do. Oh, and since we’re day dreaming, now picture that they’re small Asian kids. Ya, I know. You’re dying. You’re dead. This is the Kwan family, and they may be more well behaved than your kids, but that’s not a guarantee. I met Janice, the mama, in my yoga class, and we fast became not just friends but like got each other’s back, don’t fuck with her friends. Hard to explain. She’s a generous and very cool gem of a human being. And she’s a Brooklyn born, Los Angeles educated girl livin’ in Wellesley. Let’s all say a prayer for her tonight. 😉 Enjoy the Kwan crew. I sure did! THANK YOU, Janice! Namaste. 😉
I met Jenna at one of my best friend, Kim’s, wedding. Jenna and Kim are cousins and I’ve been hearing about Jenna for a couple of years.
Jenna and her wonderful husband, Paul, lost their son Jordan when he was just five months old. Jordon had Spinal Muscular Atrophy which is the #1 genetic killer of children under two years old.
I don’t have many words for what I cannot image.
Soon after they lost Jordan they got pregnant with the brown eyed angel we now know as Austin. When I photographed this family and looked at their photographs I could hear Austin laughing. He’s such a happy, giggly, curious, on the go baby boy. This family has light in their lives again, and being around them gives me trust in life. I hope you enjoy these photographs and this family. I love them quite a bit. Thank you guys so much for letting me photograph you guys! LOVE!
I am lucky enough to say that I’ve been photographing Lu, Peter, and their gorgeous boys for six years now. Lu was a bridesmaid to one of my favorite brides (now friend) of all time, Hillary Deshler (owns Inde Salon in Quincy and Lola in Dorchester) and we were fast friends. I have watched this little crew grow and change and become maaaaybe the most hilarious family I photograph. Do they like getting their photographs professionally taken? Possibly no. But if I chased ’em long enough I at least got their spirits captured. Or I tried to! It ain’t easy fighting twin tough kids who are funnier than me, but I tried! Lu says I did a good job so I’ll rest easy on that. 🙂 These are candid, honest photographs of a family FULL of love and laughter. Hell ya.
THANK YOU, guys! See you next year! LOVE!!
